title: Shipping by air courier to the US? New data requirements are coming

Missing shipment details can hold up air cargo at the border. Here's what CBP now requires, and how to stay ahead of it. ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏                                                                                                                                                                                                       ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏  ͏

| View in browser September 15, 2026  Dear client,   US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has extended the enforcement timeline for its Enhanced Air Cargo Advance Screening (ACAS) program: full enforcement, originally expected this November, now begins May 1, 2027.   ACAS itself already applies to all air carriers and cargo aircraft operators, including couriers such as FedEx, DHL, and UPS, requiring advance shipment data for air cargo arriving in or transiting through the US, so it touches any business shipping by air into the US, including from Canada, regardless of which courier moves the shipment. The extended deadline is more time to get shipment data right before enforcement tightens, not a reason to set it aside.   Where things stand CBP enhanced ACAS back in November 2025 and gave the trade community a one-year phased compliance period to adjust, which would have brought full enforcement this November. CBP has since pushed that deadline out to May 1, 2027.   Carriers are still expected to keep submitting ACAS data under the existing rules in the meantime, and to use the extra time to fix data quality issues and finish system integrations, not to wait until the deadline.   What additional data is required Mandatory, for every applicable shipment: Consignee email address and phone number Ship to Party name and address, if different from the consignee The shipper's Verified Known Consignor status, and registration number if they have one Required only in some cases, depending on the shipment and the shipper's Verified Known Consignor status: Shipper email address and phone number Biographic data The unmasked IP or MAC address of the device used to purchase the product A product URL or SKU number What this means for shippers Carriers can only file a compliant ACAS submission when they have complete, accurate shipment information before the cargo is picked up and loaded for the US. Missing or late details are what cause delays once enforcement tightens, not the rule itself. Businesses that register for Verified Known Consignor status face a lighter data burden than those that don't.   Recommended actions Review your shipping systems and processes now to confirm they can capture and submit the required data elements. Provide complete, accurate, and specific shipment information before cargo is picked up, not after. Look into Verified Known Consignor registration if you ship air cargo to the US regularly. Talk to JORI's freight team about how this affects your courier and air cargo shipments specifically. JORI advises on classification and compliance but does not issue binding customs rulings. The importer of record remains responsible for final classification and for any CBSA or CBP review.   Best regards,     JORI Logistics Customs  Support Team cacustoms@jorilogistics.com  I want to talk to JORI's experts ☝️ JORI Logistics, 10-1323 44 Ave NE, Calgary, AB T2E 6L5, Canada, (403) 571-3200 Unsubscribe Manage preferences |
