Dear  ,

Please be advised that, effective August 29, the U.S. government will suspend the duty-free de minimis exemption for low-value imports (shipments valued at or under $800) entering the country.

This policy change, enacted by Executive Order from the Trump administration, means that all commercial shipments—regardless of value—will now require formal customs clearance and will be subject to applicable duties and inspections, even if the item is valued at just $1.

What This Means for You

If your business currently ships goods to the U.S. under the $800 threshold to avoid formal customs procedures:

  • That exemption will no longer apply.
  • Formal customs clearance will be required for all commercial shipments, regardless of value.
  • Duties and taxes will apply based on product classification and country of origin.
  • Low value di minimus entry processes are no longer valid for commercial shipments.
  • Failure to comply may result in delays, penalties, or seizure of goods.
